The New Bedford and surrounding area Antique Dealers welcome you to New Bedford and the South Coast Region of Massachusetts.

The Antique Centers of New Bedford include over 400 dealers and 150,000 square feet of antiques showcased in the large multi-dealer locations as well as individual shops located in the Downtown and Rt 195 areas as well as two new locations, who join existing antiques dealers in the cove area, just south of the historic downtown Whaling Museum National Park area.

New Bedford is an authentic seaport city with a large fishing fleet and working waterfront, ranking as the nation's number one commercial fishing port in value of landed catch. Today, the port is home to more than 225 commercial fishing vessels.

The area’s rich whaling history was captured by Herman Melville, author of Moby-Dick, in one of  the greatest American novels ever written and brings us back to the early whaling days of New Bedford with his experiences as a young man embarking on whaling adventures.

New Bedford is now home to the world renowned New Bedford Whaling Museum and is surrounded by a wonderful cobblestone lined historical park and nearby working waterfront area. The Park preserves and interprets the city's role as "Whaling Capital of the World" in 19th Century America . Within and surrounding the historical park, visitors enjoy with antique and specialty shops, galleries and museums that bring you back to the early seafaring days.

The artistic community has a strong presence and history in this area. New Bedford’s past  is filled many great names in American Art including Albert Bierstadt, William Bradford and Albert Pinkham Ryder.  The legacy continues in the city's thriving arts community as New Bedford experiences an artistic renaissance with more and more artists calling New Bedford home. The community continues to thrive with world class performances at the Zeiterion theatre, the regular addition of new artist’s studio space and businesses, and public events embracing the arts, history and culture of the area.
